Gabbie Monteith

Hometown: Cary, NC
Major: General Business with minor in Sales or Real Estate
Sorority: Alpha Phi

I did not have any previous connections prior to applying to Alabama. I applied to many out-of-state schools, and I felt that Alabama wanted me and recruited me the best. I have known my roommate since my freshman year of high school, and we have been close friends for about four years. We are looking forward to rooming in the new Julia Tutwiler dorm. I am most excited about the educational opportunities.

When I toured, I was told about how the university focuses on getting students secured jobs right out of college. There was a vast amount of advanced technology when I was given a tour of the business school that grabbed my attention. This is a new chapter of my life, and making friends is also important to me. I am looking forward to doing so by joining the tennis club and being a part of the Panhellenic Rush community.

Don't get me wrong I love my home in Cary, even though I am traveling very far. I wanted to start a new chapter of my life, and Alabama seemed like the perfect place. I am going to miss my family the most. My parents have always been there for me. The long talks I have with my mom and going on car rides while listening to music in my car are some of my favorite things that I take for granted. I will also miss my beloved guinea pig nugget more than anything.

Megan Broadwell

Hometown: Pine Level, but recently moved to Newport
Major: Biology, potentially double majoring in Biology & Chemistry

I did not have any connections to the university, besides my family being diehard fans! I am going in with quite a few credits already completed, and being a part of the Honors College I will have to stay at the university for four years. I would also like to major in something relating to one of my interests, like sociology. I will be living in Ridgecrest East. I know who all of my roommates are, and I have become quite close to them.

I am very excited about athletic events. I plan to make full use of the free tickets to events. I am coming from a VERY small high school where athletic events were never that big of a deal, so this will be a big change! I am also looking forward to having a multitude of options for community groups and clubs.

I am definitely going to miss my dog and my bed. I think I am also going to miss having more structure to my life, with my family, school, and job telling me where I need to be at all hours of the week. Getting used to independence will be hard.
